We are the dreamers adrift in the night,
Chasing the shimmer of stars’ ancient light,
Born to an alien, distant shore,
In a world we wander, fractured and sore.
The child within asks, soft and small,
“Why does human kindness so often fall?”
The adult self finds no answer clear.
Only silence, and a haunting fear.
Why must humans darken their skies,
Inflict such pain, live buried in lies?
When all is shattered, what will remain?
A mindless husk, a heart in chains?
In fields of toil and fractured trust,
This gig economy of ash and dust,
Lust for shiny objects that glitter and amaze,
Gen Z sleeping in a matrix of illusions, dazed.
But still, the light, hidden within,
Calls to the mind, where change begins.
Despair is not the final word.
Hope takes wing when it’s felt and heard.
First, we must see the shadows cast,
Own our wounds and heal our past.
Objects of hate and cold disdain
Keep the world locked in its pain.
Yet beyond the iron and endless war,
There lies a truth worth fighting for:
In our darkness, we seek release,
For human love can still bring peace.
The tragedy lies not in all we’ve lost,
But in the spark that bears the cost.
The gift of mind, the pull of soul,
The boundless dream that makes us whole.
As a people, we soar or sink;
As a people, we pause and think.
If conscious minds can shift their gaze,
Love may yet pierce this blinding haze.
So let us awaken, let us be kind,
Healing the fractures, freeing the mind,
For we are the dreamers who seek the light—
Lost and longing for what we know is right.
And though this alien heart may fear,
May the beauty of truth make waters clear:
That in the end, when all fades away,
May love lead us back from night to day.
(In loving memory of my Grandfather, Oliver… he always found a way to smile and experience joy no matter how dark the world could seem. He was an extremely intelligent and loving man who took care of my grandmother until he suddenly passed. He taught me how to see the beauty in even the darkest moments, and he had a passion for life. I will never forget the impact he had on my being.)

I hope to one day look back on my life and say, “I am proud of the way that I have treated others” before I too fade into the black space of a distant star. May we never succumb to the toxicity of fear and hatred. May we elevate all that is around us to the best of our abilities, and may we elevate our consciousness and the frequencies of our world.)
